FairTrade Week

This week we have been looking at Fairtrade products. We learned about how bananas get from where they're grown to the shops. The children were shocked at how little the banana growers get paid per banana and how before Fairtrade many of their bananas were thrown away because they were not good enough to sell. We found out how Fairtrade helps people all over the world to get a fair price for their products and how people who sign up with Fairtrade have better lives thanks to better health care and safer working conditions.

We finished off the week by making Fairtrade banana and chocolate muffins and designing and making boxes to put the muffins into. They were delicious!
